Fran Schlenoff
Fran holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling and a Doctorate (Ed.D) in Educational Leadership. In 2014 she successfully defended her dissertation at the College of Saint Elizabeth (CSE). Fran’s dissertation focused on understanding the dangers of school intimidation, harassment, and bullying, along with the dire need for schools to create a positive school culture and climate to keep students safe. Her choice of research reflects her strong commitment to the belief that schools must ensure every child’s positive social, emotional, and academic growth. Fran has worked as a Counselor, Director of Guidance, and School Principal throughout New Jersey. In her educational positions, her top priority was ensuring that all children in her care had a safe, supportive, and positive experience. Toward that goal, she has advocated for many, many families.
Fran’s frustration with the lack of resources in the public school system for the children who needed help, coupled with her passion for being able to support children, teens, and young adults who faced emotional, social, and academic challenges, propelled her to take a new career path. Fran left public education to become an Educational Therapeutic Consultant at Elm Street Placements in New York and New Jersey. During her tenure with Elm Street Placements, she graduated from the Independent Educational Consultants Association (IECA) Summer Training Institute in 2018. She has been traveling throughout the United States, visiting schools and programs. As an Educational/Therapeutic Consultant, Fran relished the opportunity to evaluate the needs of children, teens, and young adults by matching them with the right program, seeing their growth throughout the process, and participating in the healing of their families.
Fran also earned her Parent Coaching Certification and is a member of the International Coaching Federation. Additionally, she has designed and facilitated many workshops and seminars. Her expertise includes working with students experiencing school or academic issues, learning disabilities, family dynamic issues, trauma, adoption issues, anxiety, and mental illness, to name just a few.
In her spare time Fran loves reading, gardening, travel and spending time with her family and friends.
Fran is thrilled to be a Transitional Coach with Homeward Bound. Being able to form partnerships to help families heal and thrive is a true joy.
